The ”people’s theatre Ötigheim“ is the biggest open air stage run by laymen in Germany. Whole armies can be seen marching on stage, horses can gallop through the scenes. The leading roles are usually played by local people from Ötigheim. In mass scenes up to 500 villagers fill the extensive stage with life. The 90-minute documentary accompanies the participants for over a year and looks behind the scenes of this gigantic apparatus. It draws a portrait of a whole village which is bringing its dream of the theatre of life on to the stage.
